Meet Our Board
Charmaine Sneyd
CEO
Charmaine Sneyd is the Chief Executive Officer of Vox Africa Brokers, with over 34 years of experience in the South African reinsurance broker market.
Before joining Vox Charmaine successfully ran her own reinsurance brokerage, where she was instrumental in driving growth and establishing long-term partnerships. Charmaine has also held senior roles at Guy Carpenter.
Under her leadership at Vox Charmaine continues to drive innovation, foster strategic relationships, and deliver value to clients.
Jonathon Lane
Non Executive director
Jonothan has 20 years’ experience in the global insurance markets, gained across a wide spectrum of businesses including a number of boards of London Market Brokers.
Having worked and lived in the US, UK and Bermuda he brings a unique perspective to the global (re)insurance market.
Having seen the market from the inside, it was this insight which drove him to launch Abimar Brokers in 2020 ensuring that there is a better more aligned way to do business in the international insurance markets.
Lisa Du Plessis
Chair
Lisa has close to 20 year's insurance experience. She is a CA(SA), BComm specialising in Financial Accounting, Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting. Prior to joining Sapphire as Group CFO, Lisa served as a director at Stalker Hutchinson Admiral, and at Santam where she managed the niche Financial Shared Services arena. Lisa has been involved in the oversight of various functions including finance, risk management, internal audit and now carries additional responsibilities within the operational environment.
Bernie Ray
Non Executive Director
After being admitted as an Attorney of the High Court in 1982 Bernie practiced law in private practice before joining the insurance industry as a senior legal advisor in the mid 1990s. This was followed by executive management roles at a leading insurance software developer and insurance administration company as well as at an underwriting manager. In the early 2000s he joined Emerald Risk Transfer, first in a legal role and later in an executive position. In 2013 he succeeded Gary Corke as CEO at Emerald Risk Transfer, and in 2015 was likewise the recipient of the Sanlam CEO award. Bernie currently holds the position of International Executive at Sapphire Risk Transfer.
